At the start of 2016, Fulwell Golf Club were on the lookout for a local charity that they and their members could support and fundraise for throughout the year. There are so many worthy charities in the local area but what they really wanted was a charity where every penny raised would make a difference.

Fulwell had heard about the work that Otakar Kraus Music Trust do providing music therapy to vulnerable children and adults in the local area and were interested in finding out more. Carol Stokes and Sandra Shield (2016 Captain and Ladies Captain) from Fulwell Golf Club went along to visit the music studio, and after being ‘wowed’ by an impromptu concert from some of the OKMT Music School students in their honour, Fulwell had no hesitation in deciding that OKMT would be their nominated charity for 2016.

So, throughout 2016 Fulwell Golf Club were busy fundraising for OKMT and at last count they managed to raise a staggering £11,000 which is simply incredible and exceeded all expectations!

This phenomenal amount of money was raised through various fundraising activities such as Charity Golf Days, Cake Sales, Auctions, Raffles and 24 hour Bike Marathons. It just goes to show how much money can be raised with a bit of hard work and determination.

Fulwell’s Ladies Captain Sandra Shield said “We chose OKMT after witnessing for ourselves the great work that goes on at the charity and we knew that any money we could raise would make a huge difference to the lives of these children. We were blown away by the commitment and work of the therapists and staff at OKMT. The work they do at OKMT is truly inspirational!”

OKMT would like to express a huge thank you to everyone at Fulwell Golf Club for this huge amount of money and for their support over the years.
