AFTER sell-out shows at two central London theatres, Brexit the Musical is coming home to Barnes on February 7th. This hour-long romp through the fiasco and aftermath of last year’s referendum offers essential light relief from the agonies of Brexit, soft or hard.

Boris, Osborne, Gove, Farage, Theresa May and many others strut their stuff on a crowded stage. With guest appearances by Donald Tusk, Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel.

Barnes resident David Shirreff, a former reporter at The Economist, began writing the show soon after Britain voted out; another Barnes resident, pianist Frederick Appleby, wrote some additional songs. Meanwhile, former St Paul’s pupil James Sanderson appears as the embodiment of Boris onstage.

An early version of Brexit had an airing at the OSO Arts Centre in Barnes on September 30th as part of Barnes Scratch Nights, that encouraged writer and crew to take the show to the Canal Café Theatre, home of the NewsRevue, in Little Venice, where extra shows were added to meet demand.

On January 20th Brexit the Musical transferred to Waterloo East Theatre. Now it's coming back to the OSO Arts Centre in Barnes, for five nights only, from February 7th.
