Children, parents and invited guests poured through the doors of the Falcons School for Boys,on Thursday, to enjoy a celebration of the Arts. What started as a wet and grey evening, soon turned into an explosion of colour, music and poetical performances- all presented by boys aged three to thirteen!
The guest of honour was Mr Brian Love from the Poppy Factory in Richmond who unveiled and dedicated the magnificent World War One Centenary mural created by the boys- the centre piece of the Arts event. With the sound of the The Last Post and The Rouse played by two Falcons boys, echoing through the corridors, hundreds gathered around the playground mural and listened to moving speeches and a haunting performance by Year 7 boys of Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo As well as displaying their artistic and creative talents, the Falcons boys even managed to raise over £ 2000 in just two hours for two worthy causes. In a silent auction held for canvasses painted by the boys, two charities will receive generous donations - The Poppy Factory and Wherever The Need, Sierra Leone.
