Roy Callaway 30 December 1917 – 08 April 2014

Roy Callaway was an extraordinary gentleman whose life revolved around ice skating and his love of ice dancing. Married to Betty Callaway MBE, Roy, long time resident of East Twickenham, coached for many years at Richmond Ice Rink until its closure when he then coached at Slough Ice Arena until taking retirement and spending time with his beloved Betty at home in Beaconsfield and when Betty died he moved with old ice dancing friends and his carers to Chertsey.

Both Roy and Betty skated together for many years in the Blackpool Ice Show before starting illustrious coaching careers both in Britain and abroad.

Roy was a true gentleman and an ice skating legend - always happy and smiling - Roy loved life.

Roy touched many people over the years and will always be remembered fondly by the world's skating community.

Roy passed away peacefully at home in Chertsey.

A legend has gone but will never be forgotten.

Funeral details: - Friday 25th April at 2.40 pm (14.40) - Hanworth Crematorium -> South West Middlesex Crematorium, Hounslow Road, Hanworth, Feltham, Middlesex, TW13 5JH [According to Roy's wishes no flowers but donations most welcome to a fund for the benefit of Ice Dancing in Britain established after Betty Callaway died (Betty Callaway Fund).
