Are bikes the new cars?

It is not unlikely to see a 50 year old clad it tight lycra zoom past you early evening returning from work. In actual fact it is quite an abnormality not to see this crowd. Cycling to and from work is now something of a fad and it is certainly a healthy one. The borough of Richmond has decided to encourage people to cycle and 50 volunteers have signed up offering to teach those less sprightly. It is untrue to say that cars are always faster than bicycles; theoretically cars would win every time unless superman picks up this pastime. However bikes can get to places unavailable to cars, cars cannot shrink to three times smaller and squeeze to the front of the queue. Although it is impossible for Bikes to carry the same load that cars do, it would be quite amusing trying to fit five people on to one bike. Again very little energy is required to drive a car compared to that of a car.

However in a society that is becoming more obsessed by the outer appearance and are in constant search for a balance of being healthy and happy. Cycling does seem to be making a massive impact one that I feel will be felt by all.
