Last Saturday, 8th May, the Richmond area hosted an annual free event, Richmond May Fair. This, the 40th anniversary of the first Richmond Mayfair was a huge success, despite the absence of good
weather, which of course would really have enhanced this outdoor event which took place on Richmond Green and in and around St John’s church in Richmond town centre It lasted for the majority of
the day and was fun-filled, providing all ages with interesting activities including fair ground rides, stalls, music, and other performances. I enjoyed the event mainly due to the number of people
who were present as well as the lively atmosphere that those involved with the organisation created. I believe it to be a very worthwhile event, which helps unite the local community. The charity
aspect too, is significant. Many locally based organisations were represented, fundraising and increasing public awareness.
