Hailstorm hits Whitton writes Darren Vaughan

This dramatic video shows the moment an ominous thundercloud swept over Whitton on Saturday afternoon.

At 4pm I looked over the rooftops on the Chertsey Road and saw this giant cloud which began to form into a funnel as it descended towards the ground.

I thought that I was about to witness a tornado so I started filming. The video shows the cloud at its lowest point during which there were hailstones and a clap of thunder before it lifted and dispersed.

The storm came at the end of a very changeable week.

On Friday 4th temperatures reached 17C but fell back below zero as residents woke up to a blanket of snow on Sunday 6th. Tuesday brought a return to spring which ended with this sunset taken on Sixth Cross Road.
