Many of you will have visited the 02 but not in this way. We didn’t go to listen to music this time however this time we went to do a twilight climb over the “Summit of London”. During February my family and I came across a wonderful opportunity to climb over the iconic roof of the worlds most popular entertainment venue and discover a different side to the city at a birds eye view.
It for sure felt like an extreme sport in the minus degrees weather, however the challenging climb over the 02 was worth it when you got to experience the spectacular views from the top.
Throughout the whole experience you felt very safe and secure thanks to our own personal instructor who ensured we were well equipped, safe and that we enjoyed the whole experience. After gearing up in our climbing suits, putting on our special mountain climbing shoes and harnesses we were ready to conquer the 02! We looked like Michelin men with our layers building up!
We climbed up via the walkway suspended 52m above ground level and along the way learnt some interesting facts.
Did you know? The 02 is 52 meters high to represent 52 weeks of the year and it has 12 posts, one for each month of the year.
Once climbing up one side you were rewarded with the views of the skyline of London, including the Shard, Greenwich and the central city, which was lighting up the sky.
