In the early hours of Sunday morning on the 17th of December 2017, Crystal Palace captain Jason Puncheon was arrested after a night out at Mishiko nightclub in Reigate. The premier league football star was supposedly involved in a brawl out in the street after the nightclub closed its doors, and the clubs security were forced to intervene. The police were then called shortly after, and during the midfielder’s arrest, officers seized an offensive weapon that he had reportedly been carrying on the night.

After being detained over night at Downview Prision in Sutton, the star was released on bail, and is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates court on January 5th. Jack Tickner, a student at Reigate College who was working in the nightclub at the time said, 'It was a bit of a shock to me really. I instantly recognised him at the bar, and to my knowledge there was no trouble inside the venue; it all kicked off outside after we closed up’. No further details of the arrest have been disclosed to date.
