With lots of options of attractions in London, (museums galleries etc) the holidays should be packed with things to do. However for the Christmas holidays, ice skating is a seasonal must.

With more pop up rinks opening up in and around the city, it is more accessible than ever. However, despite being accessible it is desired by a lot of people and requires pre-booking in order to guarantee a specific slot timing where everyone you're with can fit. Despite this if you are unable to pre-book, there is usually a pay on the door option. Even if you have to wait an hour or two there are free attractions within minutes walking distance such as the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum.

The pay on door option is offered at such places as the Natural History Museum Ice Rink. Just through the subway of South Kensington Station, it couldn't be easier to find. Whether you’re an experienced skater or an amateur, they house both. Workers skate around on ice and help pick people up - after they finish laughing. I was impressed with their cleanliness having a zamboni, or an ‘Ice refurbisher’ if you prefer, going out after sessions to ensure the ice is perfect for the next session. The design of this rink is particularly impressive with a tall decorated christmas tree in the middle that can be skated up to and have pictures taken in front of. One thing that drew my attention to this specific one rather than its competitors is how spectacular it looks at night with all the lights on and lit up.

Despite the Natural History Museum being more expensive than others, it is still very much worth a visit - but it's only there until the 7th January 2018 so best be quick.
