On Thursday 20th April, Croydon High’s Year 9 and 10 girls enjoyed a hilarious and educational play from two German actors who are touring around the UK currently. The play “Auf Dem Campingplatz” is about two friends who go on a camping trip overnight but encounter several problems along the way, that includes forgetting to bring any food! In addition to the play being comical, it is also very educational for girls to listen to and understand what the actors were saying which helped the students to expand their German knowledge. It is a very successful experience as many girls were surprised at how much they understood in the play. When asked how much time they had to prepare for the play afterwards, the actors said “We had 6 weeks”. Their next stop is now Dublin! Foreign language plays seem to be a successful way of helping students to know their language subject better, as it is an entertainment opportunity in which they can still learn. If you want to extend your knowledge of the language, a play is a great way to do it!
