On Sunday 9th April, the 10th annual Caterham Rotary Club 'Eater Bunny Fun Run' is set to take place starting at Queen's Park. This event has proved a lucrative money-raiser in the past with the event's website (http://www.rotaryruns.co.uk/) boasting the figure of £23,000 that has already been raised; an unarguably impressive sum.

There is a 1km race, starting at 10:00 am, and a 5km race, starting at 10:30 am, which hope to attract even the most casual fun runners, as well as welcoming walkers, in the name of fundraising. All runners receive an Easter Egg and extra prizes are up for grabs for fastest finishers and 'best-dressed bunnies' as all fancy dress runners are more than welcome.

All of the proceeds, from the £6 (5km) and £3 (1km) online entered runners as well as £6 (1km) and £12 (5km) race day registrations, go to charity and runners are encouraged to raise money through their own sponsors for separate causes alongside the charities supported by the Caterham Rotary Club.

The Caterham Rotary Club outline a myriad of other fundraising events which run alongside their annual Easter Fun Run. These include; charity auctions, charity golf day, charity race night, charity quiz etc. Examples of the charities which benefit from these activities are; St Catherine's Hospice (Sussex and East Surrey based specialised care for terminal patients), The Children's Trust (the UK's leading charity for brain injured children), Caterham Red Cross (providers of short-term loans of mobility aids including wheelchairs) and The Douglas Brunton Centre (a centre for older people offering leisure activities such as bingo, IT facilities exercise classes and an art club).

These are clearly worthy causes and undoubtedly encourage people to get fit while helping their local community through this fun run, as well as counterbalancing an otherwise chocolate-filled Easter break. For these reasons, I urge you to get in some valuable and enjoyable exercise for these amicable projects. Online entries close on Friday 7th of April so make sure register soon if you wish to avoid any unneeded hassle on what will definitely be an excellent day.
