“Alright, alright, alright” voted the most influential speaker to the youth of today by CNN – this is Reggie Dabbs. Reggie swaggers in with his simple clothing that is both humbling in relation to his charismatic presence.

He shocked us by whipping out his glossy golden saxophone and literally getting the whole school on our feet to sing along to his rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Cold Water” (bonus points for being good friends with the pop star). He made us laugh, he made us cry, and all in the space of an hour. Reggie has a talent connecting with people like none I have seen before; filling the room with a rare radiance and vitality that resonated with each individual.

Whilst emphasising the lesson that life is a rollercoaster, Reggie was able to inspire four hundred students to help them push through the tough moments in life and saviour and appreciate the happy ones. He taught us to persevere through the challenges life has to offer and to “never give up!”

He left with a very important message for each and every one of us:

“I love you”

And it was the most uplifting message that anyone can share.

We have all heard that love can build a bridge, that love can bring light to even the darkest of times; but genuine love, the essence of what Reggie speaks about, is the purest form of inspiration and motivation any human being can pass to another.
