On Thursday 23rd February, it wasn’t only the wind that blew people away! Gumley held another one of their music festivals, but this time it was different because everybody playing in it, had had to take auditions and were once again competing for an award and trophy.

There was a big range of students competing, from year sevens playing the violin, to KS4 ensembles. Everyone was very impressed with the standard of the music being played, especially the guest adjudicator from Gunnersbury, a local school. Parents and friends were invited to watch the two-and-half hour concert, and all of them left the school with big smiles on their faces! The evening was organised by the two music teachers, which involved a lot of auditions and practises.

Mrs Barker, one of the heads of music, said afterwards, “I am so proud of the girls, they all put in so much effort and practise and this was clearly demonstrated tonight!.”

This event is put on every year so that all students, regardless of their musical preferences can express and perform in front of others. This continues to inspire people, especially year sevens who are new to the school and can help people express themselves through music, regardless of the windy weather outside!
