"New year, new me!" is what I have declared to myself every year for as long as I can remember as the clock has struck midnight on December the 31st and the new year has officially begun. How is it that despite the fact that every time I have said it I have truly meant every word, and yet by the 3rd or 4th of January they seem meaningless? With each new year comes new hope and new inspiration. Some people decide that this will be the year they start going to the gym, or the year they learn a new language, or the year that they travel the world. Unfortunately, for most of us, keeping resoloutions almost impossible. So what can we do differently this year?

Changing your life in any way, be it a small change or a drastic one, takes a lot of determination on the part of the person making the change. Before making a resoloution, we all need to think about whether we are willing to commit to them. Don't be afraid to start small! The new year seems to make people temporarily forget that they are only human. We find ourselves promising to go to the gym every day and to never eat chocolate again. Instead, why not decide to go to the gym at least twice a week and limit the amount of chocolate you eat in a week? That way when we wake up on the 1st of January and remember the resoloutions we made the night before in the height of the excitement, we do not instantly regret them but instead look forward to pursuing them.

So this year is a fresh start, a new chance; to be better, bolder, stronger. While we still have the hope and motivation given to us by the prospect of the new year, we need to go out and grab the moment! Forget about everything that went wrong for you last year and look forward to all the new adventures you will inevitably find yourselves on this year. The problems of the past are history and nothing can hold you down this year. Each new year is a blessing and from each one we learn something new. But what we should also remember is that we do not need a big party and fireworks in order to make a fresh start. Every day is a new opportunity to be better and stronger and bolder. If you break one of your resoloutions don't be afraid to make it again!

Although the new year is a fantastic new start for each and every one of us, remember that if you break one of your resoloutions midway through January, don't wait until next year to re make it. I am absolutely hopeless at keeping my resoloutions but no matter how many times I break them I will continue making them every day because each and every day is a new chance; a fresh start.
