Here is a fun leisure activity that just might make your dreams come true.
Aston Theatre Arts teaches you to sing, dance and act at weekends for 12 to 14 weeks along side the normal school term. There are no auditions, all you need is lots of enthusiasm.
Aston Theatre Arts is dedicated to providing quality education that is complimentary to normal education.
We aim to build self-confidence, assurance and self-esteem in children.
Improve communication skills and motivate children who are a little shy.
Encourage creativity and imagination.
Develop strong technique in the three disciplines.
Improve presentation skills.
Have fun and meet new friends.
We will work on material that is relevant to the industry and getting work. We teach that discipline and dedication to practice is essential.
The schools founder, Jay Aston, was one of the original members of the pop group, Bucks Fizz. The band had three UK number one hits and 20 consecutive top 20 hits. This success was echoed all over Europe, Australia, South America and Japan, reaching an audience of 1.5 billion, selling over 20 million records.
After leaving the band, Jay went into teaching and songwriting, landing a publishing deal with Chrysalis Music and working with her band ASTON whilst becoming head of departments at various colleges.
Aston Theatre Arts employs only staff with either professional experience and/or teaching qualifications. All our staff are police and criminal records bureau accredited.
Training is offered to children of school age 5 - 16 years. The school teaches singing, drama and dancing to a high standard for three hours each week.
The three stages are:
1. Age 5 to 7 years
2. Age 8 - 12 years
3. Age 13 - 16 years
Students will receive a pack each term with a CD of exercises, backing tracks and relevant lyrics and drama scripts. The material will be worked on throughout the term. The school year is divided into three terms, running concurrently with the normal academic year.
Students will perform a display of work each term and will receive two annual reports outlining potential, attitude and effort. Certificates and medals will be given to students who in our opinion have achieved outstanding work
The school has set up it's own agency ran by the principle Jay Aston and in association with a London PR agency. We have already have had interest from representatives from HARRY POTTER, WALT DISNEY THEATRE PRODUCTIONS, several highly respected TV series and movie contracts.
Joining the agency is free to students attending the school. It does not guarantee that professional work will be secured.
A range of comfortable tracksuits with the schools logo is available but not compulsory. Trainers and Jazz shoes are the only acceptable footwear. We stock T-Shirts, Sweat Tops with and without hoods, and track pants. The school colours are red, white and blue.
A career in the arts necessitates disciplined behaviour and obedience. It is a tough business and it is crucial that students work with us and not against us. Poor behaviour can not be tolerated.
You like what you have seen and read then we are hoping you might take the first step and join us on our next open day. This is free of charge for all newcomers and is on the first day of each term. Let's hope you find that something you have been looking for.
