Twenty firefighters tackled a blaze at a flat in Feltham yesterday which is believed to have started after a chip pan was left next to lit cooker hob.
Seventeen people had left the block of flats in St Giles Close before fire crews arrived at 3.22pm.
The fire spread quickly damaging almost half of the first floor flat before it was brought under control.
Phil Watkins, of Feltham fire station, said: "The fire spread easily around the remainder of the flat, because internal doors were left open."
