Two bank robbers who left a security van guard with knife wounds before fleeing with a cash box are being hunted by police.
The masked bandits pounced after the G4 Securicor van arrived to deliver cash at Barclays branch at the junction between London Road and St John’s Road in Isleworth at 11.05am on Friday, August 22.
The attack was the second time the bank has been targeted in four months following a similar raid on April 25.
The culprits were not arrested and police have refused to comment on whether they believe the two robberies were connected.
David Dunlop, manager of Dunlop and Co estate agents next door to the bank, said: “It’s the same thing keeps happening. It’s like an open invitation parking the security van outside the bank.”
The guard was walking in and out of the bank last Friday when the robbers, who covered their faces with bandannas, suddenly pulled up in a blue Vauxhall Zafira.
One of the robbers jumped out of the car and tried to grab a cash box. A struggle broke out and the robber attacked the guard with a knife slashing him across the chest, arm and hand.
The two men fled with the box before forcing it open and escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash. They dumped the car with the box in a nearby street.
Flying squad officers raced to the scene and sealed off the area. The guard was taken to hospital by ambulance where received treatment for his wounds.
Alkesh Gadher, manager of the nearby Spar and post office, said: “When it starts happening so regularly I think you become very worried about everything that happens around here now.”
The robbers were described as male, one white and one black.
A police spokesman appealed for anyone with information to contact Barnes flying squad on 020 8247 7932 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
