An Isleworth deli, open for only eight months, has been voted one of the top five in London in chef Gary Rhodes’ competition Local Food Heroes.
Owner and chef of Syon, in St John’s Road, is Tim Zekk and he will be showing off his culinary skills and ingredients by cooking for Gary Rhodes next month during the final stages of the competition.
Mr Zekk said: “We are so proud to have been selected and it came as quite a shock.
“It’s been amazing to discover how many foodies there are around here, and the amount of good feedback and support we’ve received has been great.
“I did not think we would get so much support from local people. It’s an honour to be selected.
"We’re especially pleased as we’ve only been open eight months, and some people thought we were mad to attempt something like this in Isleworth.
“It’s a little shop, but we’re shouting loud.”
