The opening of a new beauty suite on the Beavers Estate has paved the way for improved access to courses and qualifications in Hounslow West.
The new eight-bed beauty suite, complete with on-site childcare, has been opened to provide more opportunities for residents to gain the qualifications they need to get the career they want.
It forms part of the council's commitment to providing residents with opportunities to learn new skills in their local community.
At the launch, Councillor Paul Lynch, acting executive member for education and children, said: "It is wonderful to see this great new facility, and the enthusiasm of the people here shows that it will be a wonderful asset for the community.
"The work being done here is inspiring - it's a very welcoming venue and offers residents the chance to get involved with their friends in a relaxed atmosphere to learn new skills.
"There is a high demand for beauty practitioners in the area. Beauty employment opportunities support the growing airport and leisure industry.
"These courses are aimed at local people who may have left school early with low level skills and need to improve these skills, or want the opportunity to re-train for employment, close to their home, around school hours and with free childcare.
"Centres like this are helping people overcome their worries about learning and are making a tremendous difference to the lives of those who take part in the courses."
Courses on offer include beauty, hairdressing, skincare and massage and can lead to recognisable qualifications that will help the learners find new careers.
