Oliver Golding could find himself facing some of the best players in the world this week after being given a wildcard to the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club.

The 17-year-old, from Richmond, will be in the main draw of the traditional curtain raiser, which begins on Monday, with the likes of world number one Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, four-time winner Andy Roddick and 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro.

Should he perform well, Golding could even be in with a chance of landing a wildcard to the main draw at Wimbledon, which begins on June 20.

He was selected for the wildcard after seeing his hopes of a first junior boys' singles Grand Slam title ended in the quarter-finals at the French Open yesterday.

The youngster was the highest seed left in the last eight but was comprehensively beaten by unseeded American Bjorn Fratangelo 6-1 6-1 at Roland Garros.

Jut hours after his singles defeat, he was also knocked out of the boys' doubles quarter finals.

Seeded first with his playing partner Jiri Vesely, the 17-year-old was beaten 6-4 4-6 (10-8) by Americans Mitchell Krueger and Shane Vinsant.
