Quins ace Hill to retire

Australian stand-off Scott Hill has revealed he intends to retire at the end of the current Super League season.

The influential Harlequins RL star has battled through an injury-plagued season to help the London club to the fringes of the play-off places.

And the former Melbourne Storm man hopes to end his stint in Britain with a bang.

Hill said: "It has been a very frustrating year for me injury wise, especially when I'm going to retire at the end of the year.

"You want to finish in the best possible form and with your body in the best possible shape and today is the first time this year I have felt good at the end of a game."

Hill produced a virtuoso display to guide Quins to a thrilling 34-26 win over visitors Hull on Sunday, having a hand in all six tries from Chris Melling (two), Tony Clubb (two), Michael Worrincy and Julien Rinaldi.

And the 30-year-old admitted he was relishing the Londoners' attacking style.

He added: "The expansive game seems to be disappearing, both in Super League and the NRL.

"The game is very structured now and attacking play almost seems to be an outcast.

"The way I grew up was to play football and play what you see and I am really enjoying our style of football."

Quins' come-from-behind win at the weekend saw the Stoop side end a run of three last-gasp defeats.

And Hill agreed it was something his side have to build on if their dreams are to be realised.

Hill added: "We continued to play a similar style and got our reward today.

"We were a lot tougher in the last 10-15 minutes of the match than we have been in the last three games."
