Rosslyn Park lost ground on National League One leaders Doncaster Knights on Saturday, but head coach Alex Codling is not bothered about what the Knights do.

Park squeezed past Loughborough Students 18-17 to record a third consecutive win on the road.

However, Knights picked up a bonus point win over Blaydon, increasing the gap between them at the top and Park in second place to eight points with six games remaining.

Just one team is promoted to the Championship, and Knights, relegated last term and the only full-time side in the league, are favourites for a swift return.

But win, lose or draw, Codling is only concerned with his own team.

He said: “We have made huge strides this season with the amount of victories we have got, wins away from home and the level of performance.

“So we will just keep concentrating on ourselves in the next few weeks, we are not bothered about Doncaster.

“We have Tynedale at home next week. We know if we have the right intensity we will be in with a chance on Saturday but saying that Tynedale have been on a great run of late.”

On their past two trips away from Priory Lane, Park have scored in excess of 40 points.

However, Loughborough proved stronger opposition and Park, who were returning from a two-week lay-off, were made to earn the narrow win.

Codling, pictured, said: “We have set very high standards, but we did not get anywhere near them on Saturday.

“We were comfortable in the first half, and in the second half we should have really put the game to bed, but a few errors crept into our game, we did not have that intensity we usually do.

“We were nowhere near where we need to be but the boys know that and will put it right next week. I’m not going to be too critical of them.”

He added: “It’s the way of the league, with so many games you can’t play your best all the time, but the good thing is we still picked up the result. It’s another win on the road and we move on.”

Joseph Ajuwa grabbed a try in each half while Scott Sneddon outscored his kicking opponent by a single point to make the crucial difference.
