There could be an almighty bang when Rosslyn Park and Ealing Trailfinders collide at the Rock on Saturday – and the Ellis family will be at the centre of it.

The top two in National League One go head to head this weekend, where a home win would send Park to the top of the table for the first time this season.

Moreover, Park skipper and number eight Hugo Ellis will line up opposite his little brother Arthur at number seven – and if the latter has anything to do it, sparks will fly.

Hugo, 26, said: “The chatter started a few weeks ago, and he’s always had that aggressive little brother syndrome.

“He is two years younger than me and can be spiky. He has been laying it on that he is going to smash me.

“I’ve not been talking about it, I prefer to let that happen on the pitch.”

The pair, who have never faced each other in a competitive arena before, have 11 tries each this season and only one point separates their sides at the top.

And dad Ellis knows what he wants from the Saturday showdown.

Hugo said: “Much to Arthur’s annoyance, Dad doesn’t hide the fact he’s a Park man rather than Ealing.

“As far as mum is concerned, she’ll just want her two boys to come out at the end fit and healthy.”

Part-time outfit Park take an 11-match unbeaten streak into the clash, including last weekend’s 47-0 win at Tynedale.

Ellis said: “Tynedale is not an easy place to go to, so that was a fantastic result for us, you don’t get many shut-outs and the coach [Alex Codling] has been going on at us about defence.

“But this is the biggest game of the season so far, without a doubt.

“We’re hoping for a bumper crowd, like last year against Doncaster Knights.

“The pressure is not on us, we’re the part-time side and they are the full-time side. But we’re ready for a big battle, and it promises to be a huge game.”

He added: “Should we win and go top, then the hard work really starts.”
