Rosslyn Park returned from Loughborough with a bonus point 36-29 win last Saturday.

It was perhaps not the commanding performance his side had been looking for in advance of this Saturday’s home match against Old Albanians (kick-off 3pm), but head coach Alex Codling was broadly satisfied.

He said: “I was pleased with the win and the five points.

"The performance was a reflection of our opening four games, some really good build up play, some excellent work in the tight but putting ourselves under pressure with unforced errors both with and without the ball.

“We have played three away games already so we knew it was going to be a tough start but the boys are in a good place and understand we need to improve quickly with certain aspects of our game.

“We are looking forward to being back at the Rock against another team who like to move the ball and play with tempo which should make for another cracking game.

“We had a great crowd in our opening home game and I urge all of our supporters to be at the Rock on Saturday and get behind the boys."

Codling was forced to make six changes to the side that had faced Fylde the previous Saturday as early season injuries continue to preclude a settled side.

He will not have been pleased to see last season’s ever-present hooker, Adam Bellamy, limp off before the end.

One player who will definitely not be appearing for a while is nippy scrum half Luke Carter, whose facial injury against Fylde has proved to be a jaw broken in three places.

Saturday’s opponents, Old Albanians, have had a nightmare start to the season having been dealt some tough opening fixtures by the league computer.

They are in desperate need of a win to pull away from the bottom of the table, and such sides are always dangerous.
