Quins' next generation are ready to impress once more

Richmond and Twickenham Times: Making a mark: Quins Ollie Lindsay-Hague asked Premiership defences plenty of questions last term Making a mark: Quins Ollie Lindsay-Hague asked Premiership defences plenty of questions last term

Harlequins speedster Ollie Lindsay-Hague says  the club’s next generation are ready to make an impression in the top flight next term.

The 23-year-old and fellow speed merchant Charlie Walker starred in last year’s Premiership Rugby Sevens before catching the eye in the longer format of the game.

Quins, who finished fourth in last year’s World Club Sevens at Twickenham, begin the tournament in Group C at Franklin’s Gardens on August 1 when they will face Northampton Saints, Saracens and Wasps .

And Lindsay-Hague reckons they must be feared as they bid to reach finals day at the Stoop a week later.

“There are always young lads coming through; it'll be very interesting to see how they get on,” he said.

“It really does prepare you for the Premiership. It’s on TV, and you can get your name out there for the coaches to see how good you are and how well you can cope.

“The boys might be a bit nervous before the tournament but that’s sometimes what you need.”

Quins will kick off thier Premiership campaign with the London Double Header on September 6 when London Irish provide the opposition, while 2014 top flight champions Northampton Saints are opposition for Big Game Seven on December 27.

The club's European Champions Cup fixtures are unveiled this weekend.
