Harlequins scrum half Danny Care has vowed to let his rugby do the talking after receiving a 16-month driving ban at Southampton magistrates court on Monday.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with excess alcohol after being stopped by police at Winchester services on the M3 in the early hours of New Year's Day.

Care, who lives in Cobham, was also fined £3,000, ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge fee, having already been fined £10,000 by his club.

It came less than 48 hours after the number nine's deft chip set-up Quins full back Mike Brown for the match winning score in Saturday's 20-14 Heineken Cup win over Gloucester.

"Thoroughly learnt a massive lesson the last few weeks. Glad the case is over now and I can concentrate on what I love doing, playing rugby," he tweeted.

"Want to thank everyone for all their support and apologise again to everyone that I have let down. Will let my rugby do the talking."
