London Welsh lock Mike Powell can now add two-time Heineken Cup winners London Wasps to his list of previous clubs following his two game cameo for Dai Young’s side in the LV=Cup.
With Wasps in the midst of a second row injury crisis, and Simon Shaw yet to return from the World Cup, an emergency call went out from Young to London Welsh and Lyn Jones.
Powell duly started Wasps’ round one LV=Cup tie against Worcester Warriors, before coming off the bench at Adams Park against Newport Gwent Dragons.
In Powell’s absence the Exiles crashed 35-33 at Bristol on Saturday thanks to an injury time try from Jack Tovey.
Tries from Rob Lewis, Hudson Tonga’uiha, Edd Thrower and Ed Jackson had seen them lead 33-28 going into the closing stages, but it was not enough.
