London Welsh will test themselves against Premiership opposition as they build up to the start of the new Championship and British & Irish Cup.
The Dragons take on Guinness Premiership runners-up London Irish on Friday 14th August and Saracens on Sunday 23rd August, before kicking off their Championship campaign away to Bristol on the first weekend of September.
Fri 14th August v London Irish (Sunbury) kick-off 7:30pm Sun 23rd August v Saracens (Old Albanians RFC) kick-off TBC “It was important for us to assess the standard of opposition that we were going to be facing during the season and then secure pre-season games that were going to give us a real test, and you can’t get much more of a test than two Premiership sides,” said London Welsh Head Coach Danny Wilson.
“London Irish and Saracens will be very tough but we are delighted to have secured the fixtures as they will stand us in good stead going into our first league match of the season at Bristol,” said London Welsh Head Coach Danny Wilson.
“We felt that to be fully prepared to face what will effectively be a Premiership outfit, as they have kept a lot of their players, this is the standard of opposition we had to test ourselves against.
“It will not only show us where we are at but show the players what the intensity of the Championship is going to be like, as I think it will go up another level from last season.”
