London Scottish flanker Neil Best believes the month of November could shape the club’s season.

Scottish host fourth placed Leeds Carnegie on Saturday with the Irish internationalist determined to build on Sunday’s impressive 29-3 bonus point win over Jersey.

The Athletic Ground outfit have never beaten Leeds since promotion to the Championship, but Best feels overcoming that hurdle would set them up nicely for matches against basement side Ealing Trailfinders and Moseley in the next fortnight.

And the 34-year-old is desperate for the team to be right in the mix for a top four place come December.

“We have an important three weeks coming up and Saturday is a massive game for us,” said the former Ulster back rower.

“If we beat Leeds it will give us lots of confidence.

“We were pleased to score four tries and get the bonus point on Saturday although there were areas of the game where we could have been more clinical and we could have got more points on the board.

“Leeds will be tough. They are a formidable team with some really good players.

“Their pack is strong and they have a good back line.

“It's a club with great pedigree and they will be a tough nut to crack.”

Best joined London Scottish from Premiership strugglers and has been impressed by what he has seen in the second tier of English rugby.

“There are some outstanding players in the division this season and plenty of players could easily step up to the Premiership,” he added.
