Rosslyn Park break new ground on Saturday with their first ever visit to play Gloucestershire side Hartpury College.

Hartpury were promoted last season as champions of National League Two South.

They are closely associated with Premiership side Gloucester, thus ensuring a rich supply of talented young players, so Park will have their work cut out if they are to return with the points they need.

Park remain second in the National League One table after their 27-10 win over Esher on Friday night.

Head coach Alex Codling said: "I was extremely proud of the effort of the boys on Friday night.

Pictures and words from Friday night's win

"Our intensity with and without the ball was exceptional. But for us being held up over the line and penalised near Esher's line on several occasions we would have secured the try bonus point."

He added: “The boys are in a really good place at the moment but we are under no illusions as to the challenge that awaits us at Hartpury on Saturday."

There was some encouraging news for Codling on the injury front.

Former skipper Harry Rowland has been absent with a long term serious knee injury, and as part of his rehab he has been sent on short-term loan to National Three side London Irish Wild Geese.

He played his first match for them on Saturday, a 31-17 win at Guernsey, and said: “I really enjoyed it. It went well and I hope to be back soon – weeks not months."
