Croydon's Bradley Ellis made a promising debut in the FIA GT3 European Championship at Silverstone last weekend - despite suffering a host of mechanical and technical issues.
Ellis and partner Ed Morris from Sittingbourne battled back from 25th on the grid to finish 11th in Saturday's opener and then collected his first championship points with seventh placed on Sunday.
Ellis, 20, said: "It was great to be back out on the track again, but the weekend was quite a challenge.
"It was remarkable that we walked away with Silverstone with some points because, on Friday, that just wasn't looking posiible.
"Had we not experienced the problems in practice and had to race without ABS and power steering, then I am sure we would have two points-paying finishes in the bag."
