Promising weekend for Bird

5:21pm Tuesday 15th July 2008

A radical change in the set up of his car finally helped Sam Bird to finish third and sixth in the Formula 3 Euroseries at the legendary Zandvoort circuit last weekend.

Starting fourth on the grid in race one, the BP Ultimate driver drove a strong race to finish on the podium following Hulkenberg's disqualification.

Starting from sixth on the grid, Bird's progress in race two was baulked by a front row accident, that saw him drop a couple of places.

However he regained his grid slot, keeping the Red Bull drivers in front of him under pressure for most of the race.

"If we can continue to work in this direction I am sure there is much more to come."

Bird's next outing is at Nurburgring on July 26/27.
