London Olympians have their eyes on promotion this Saturday as they take on Berkshire Renegades in the play-offs to reach British American Football Association Division One.
The team, who play at Crystal Palace, were on the brink of extinction a year ago but the newly revived club are now on the cusp of promotion after winning all nine games in the South East Conference.
Victory over Berkshire, who finished runners-up in the South West Conference, would put them in the play-off final and Rob Williams, who plays in the defensive line, called on fans to cheer them on as they set their sights on a successful end to the campaign.
“It's really great for the team as we only missed out narrowly last year with a whole new squad," he said.
"But after a year together we are now much stronger so it would be great to go up.
“Of course, the ultimate goal is the Premiership but obviously we have to get through the play-offs first and Division One is not an easy league.
"The aim is to be as successful as we can.”
Williams did not expect the intensity he found when he joined the club but admitted the seriousness of the competition has caught on.
“When I first joined I just thought it would be a bit of fun but actually everything is treated very seriously," he said.
"A lot of research goes into the preparation for games and we have been watching videos of the opposition.
“It will be a tough game but we have to make sure we are in the right condition.
"We play at a fine stadium at Crystal Palace so hopefully we can get the fans down to support us.”
The game kicks off at 1pm with tickets just £2.
