Ashford Bowling Club enjoyed a fine run of results in all competitions last week.
Tue 24th August LADIES' MATCH SUNNINGDALE 29 v ASHFORD 36 Ashford won the two rinks played. Sunningdale started well but Ashford soon found their way and got themselves in the lead. After that the game was very close with Ashford holding onto the lead despite Sunningdales' efforts to win. Top scorers for Ashford were B.Astridge, A.Anderson, N.Evans, J.Webber who won 21 - 16.
FORDBRIDGE MIXED LEAGUE HOUNSLOW CONSERVATIVES 4 pts v ASHFORD 6 pts Ashford began well and were winning on three of the four triples at the halfway stage. Hounslow fought back and managed to steal a second winning triple as the game finished with both sides winning two triples each. However Ashford had the higher total score to take the extra two points. Ashfords' top scorers were A.Blair, S.Woodhead, M.Delaney with a 24 - 9 victory.
Thu 26th August MENS MIDWEEK MATCH BISHOP DUPPAS 55 v ASHFORD 69 Ashford won three triples to Bishop Duppas' one triple.Bishop Duppas started well and were ahead at six ends. However Ashford were not going to give in too easily and soon caught up.. Once they had taken the lead Ashford eased themselves further in front and defended that advantage well to win three triples to one. Top scorers for Ashford were J.Evans, G.Aylott, K.Woodhead with a 26 - 10 win..
Sat 28th August RICHMOND BARNES & DISTRICT BOWLING ASSOCIATION LEAGUE TEDDINGTON 1 pt v ASHFORD 3pts Ashford needed to win all four points to stand any slender chance of winning this league. In two of the three rinks played, Ashford led from start to finish. However on the third rink Teddington were putting up a good fight and took the lead after a shaky start. During the second half of that game, Ashford fought back well but just failed to win at the last two ends. The result unfortunately means that Ashford will not be able to win this league this season. Top scorers for Ashford were R.Searle, R.Odell, O.Higson, D.Coleman with a 26 - 12 win.
