Teddington Swimming Club’s Tom Baxter will step up his attempts to qualify for the GB team for the 2017 Deaflympics in record breaking style.

Baxter set a new personal best and broke the English deaf swimming record for the 50m freestyle in a time of 25.50 seconds at the Surrey Masters Swimming Championships last month.

He will now concentrate on the series of British Deaf Swimming training camps as he bids to secure qualification for next year’s main event in Turkey.

Teddington head coach Ed Sinclair: “Tom has shown great commitment and dedication this season and coming away with these results and a record is a just reward for his hard work.

“His big focus is now on Deaf Olympics in 2017 - this will be a huge achievement for Tom we are certainly looking forward to the challenge ahead.”
