Bees bid to shoot down Shots

Defender Alan Bennett may be one of the only Bees players to be among familiar surroundings at the weekend, but for him the clash with Aldershot Town is just another game.

Brentford, along with a large contingent of travelling support, head to the Recreation Ground on Saturday for the first time in a league match since the Shots were booted out of the Football League in 1992.

Boss Andy Scott’s men stretched their unbeaten league run to nine matches at Notts County on Monday night and Bennett - named man of the match in Nottingham - wants to take that form beyond the weekend.

“It is just another game for us. Reading reserves used to play there, so I know the ground pretty well,” he said.

“We wanted to go second in the table on Monday and we missed an opportunity. Hopefully, we can go there keep things ticking over, stay unbeaten and get three points.”

Scott is not expecting any additions to his list of walking wounded, which to date includes Gary Smith, Craig Pead, Brett Johnson and Ryan Dickson.

But the Griffin Park boss is looking forward to coming up against a side built very much in the mirror image of his own.

“It is a tough game they are a decent side very good attacking wise. It will be a great atmosphere and I’m sure it will be a full house,” he “I’m looking forward to it. Gary Waddock has done well there and brought in a lot of good players.

“They are very much like us. They are young, inexperienced, energetic and enthusiastic, so I’m sure it will be a real good game."
