Sports reporter Graham Moody takes a look at the timeline of events that led to end of Croydon Athletic Football Club.

June 2008 – Mazhar Majeed buys into Croydon Athletic saying he and co-owner Roy Price “want to take this club as high as we can and as fast as we can.”

April 2010 – The Rams win Ryman Division One South and are promoted to the Ryman Premier League for the first time.

August 2010 – Majeed is exposed in the News of The World as part of an international cricket match fixing ring and is arrested and has his assets frozen.

September 2010 – Manager Tim O’Shea and players quit after three weeks without pay and the club avoids being chucked out of the league when Majeed pays a bond to secure their fixtures for the season.

October 2010 – Chairman David Le Cluse is found dead after committing suicide.

December 2010 – Danish fans consortium Fodboldseksabet AS, take over the club from Majeed but three months later file for bankruptcy and Majeed’s sister-in-law, Jenna Manji, becomes owner.

April 2011 – Despite a valiant effort, the club are relegated to Ryman Division One South.

November 2011 – Majeed pleads guilty to spot-fixing and is jailed for two years and eight months.

December 2011 – Found guilty of 24 breaches of FA Rule E1(b) in relation to the 2009-10 season, deducted 10 points and fined £7,500.

December 3, 2011 – The Rams play their final game, a 2-1 loss to Folkestone Invicta with George Landais their last ever goalscorer.

January 17, 2012 – The club announced its intention to resign as members of the Ryman League.
