1:45pm Friday 13th January 2012 in Kingstonian By Stuart Amos
Ks skipper Gary MacDonald has a new pre-match eating regime and hopes it can keep helping fire his side up the table.
Kingstonian have started 2012 with two wins thanks to the captain’s 90th minute winner in Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Harrow Borough.
The former Hayes & Yeading defender fuelled his late show with scrambled eggs on toast at Fat Boys Cafe and will do the same ahead of the trip to Lewes this weekend.
Boss Alan Dowson men have suffered a mediocre first half to the Ryman Premier League and MacDonald believes the side’s recent revival has come at exactly the right time.
“We have to concentrate on our own game and concentrate on getting the next three points. The same approach as usual,” he said.
“This is the most important half of the season. Teams are jostling for position after Christmas.
“When I was at Hayes we were nowhere at this time of year and went on an amazing run that got us promoted through the play-offs.
“If we can get on a run we are confident we’ll get there.
“The players want to be successful – we still believe we can be – and that is the aim.”
MacDonald started Saturday’s clash on the bench after missing last week’s win over Tooting & Mitcham through suspension and he was delighted to play his part.
“It was my own fault that I was on the bench. I got suspended and, as they say, you don’t change a winning team,” he added.
“I’ve got no problem with that. It was nice to come on and score when the opposition can’t get back at you.”
