Ks midfielder Matt Pattison believers he can pull the strings to fire his new side into the Ryman Premier League play-offs.
The 27-year-old played a hand in both goals as boss Alan Dowson’s men beat Tooting & Mitcham United 2-1 on Monday in their only game of the Christmas and New Year period.
The former Farnborough man made the switch from Walton & Hersham last Friday, deciding to swap a Ryman Division One South relegation scrap for a possible play-off push.
And it is the latter that now has his attention as he bids to continue his rise up the non-League ladder.
“Everyone seems to be disappointed with the first half of the season, but the reality is we’re only about nine points off the play-offs,” he said.
“That can only be a good sign and hopefully we can turn it around. It only needs a good run.”
Pattison snubbed Dowson’s advances in the summer for the chance of full-time football at Blue Square South Farnborough.
But the move didn’t work out as intended and the former Ks loanee found himself at Stompond Lane.
His arrival at the Swans helped Chuck Martini’s strugglers to a run of four straight wins, but the run has since lost momentum, prompting Pattison’s departure.
“I’d looked at Ks in the summer and Alan was in contact again soon after I moved to Walton,” he added.
“Things were going well at Walton at the time and I had hoped something could be sorted out contract wise.
“I don’t know what happened, but we just stopped winning. Although there was a relegation battle to play, Walton are too good to go down and I wanted something more.
“I still think I have something to offer at the highest level I can and hopefully I can do that at Ks.”
Kingstonian, currently 12th in the table, continue their campaign with the visit of struggling Harrow Borough on Saturday.
