Kingstonian’s push for promotion out of the Ryman Premier Division is receiving timely boosts, says assistant boss Graham Harper.

Monday night’s 4-0 win over Brentwood followed hard on the heels of Saturday’s 5-2 hammering of Harrow Borough, and has lifted Ks in to the play-off berths.

Moreover, ahead of the mid-week games, Ks have at least one game in hand on their nearest rivals – with only Bognor Regis Town in eighth having played less.

Ks have been has high as second in the table before plans went awry over Christmas with a string of three consecutive defeats - until the arrival of Andre McCollin and his goals.

They then hit another snag after three games without a win last month – that is until the arrival of Joe Turner from Met Police.

Both Turner, with two, and McCollin featured on the scoresheet in the win over Brentwood, but Harper insisted Ks’ return to form is not just about two new players.

“Andre hit the ground running by scoring goals, and Joe has given us an option on the left-hand side where we’ve struggled,” he said.

“We needed to bring in the right players at the right time, there was no way we’d bring in any old player, and these two fitted the bill.”

He added: “But it’s not just down to those two, they have freshened up the whole squad and players are raising their game.

“Collectively the team have being playing well, and now it is a case of staying in the play-offs.

“We have been there before and fallen away, we cannot make that mistake again.”

Pelayo Pico-Gomez was on the scoresheet against Brentwood, and he also bagged a brace in the win over Harrow, alongside goals from George Wells, Reece Beckles and Tyron Smith.

However, Sam Page was stretchered off in the Harrow game with a suspected fracture foot.

Harper said: “Fortunately it’s not a fracture, and he could be back in a couple of weeks.

“It was an odd one, he got a puncture in his foot and it was pumping out blood through his sock.

“He cannot have stitches, it’s just a hole that has to heal.”

Ks face back-to-back trips to Canvey Island and Enfield Town on Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
