The Ryman Premier League’s clash of the day on Saturday will not decide anything, says Kingstonian boss Tommy Williams.

The Kingsmeadow outfit host play-off rivals Tonbridge Angels knowing they must win to keep in touch with the division’s top five as the campaign nears its climax.

Ks are unbeaten in six league and cup games since January 9, while Angels – led by 15-goal former Brentford striker Nathan Elder – have won their past three league encounters.

The two teams drew 1-1 the last time they met in October, but Williams reckons that and tomorrow’s result will count for nothing in the grand scheme of things – particularly as the teams have 29 games between them still to play.

“The games are ticking away and you want to keep picking up points to stay in the hunt,” he said.

Difficult to stop: Tonbridge Angels striker Nathan Elder in action during his Brentford days

“We feel that with the games we have played recently we are building some momentum, which is what you want.

“The result on Saturday – whether we win, lose or draw – is not going to decide where we finish in the league.”

He added: “Dulwich have played three teams in the bottom three recently and only got a point to show for it, so it is a funny league.

“It shows that if you are not up for a game or tuned in to what you are doing then you run the risk of being rolled over.

“We think we have got a decent run-in in terms of fixtures, but you don’t know what it will be like when it comes to actually playing the games.”

Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Billericay Town ended a run of five straight wins in all competitions and the manager felt it was a fair result.

“It wasn’t a bad point,” added Williams.

“It is always a difficult place to go and the conditions did not help at all, so we are pretty happy to come away with a point.

“But when you draw away from home, it means you have to back that up with a win when you get back on home soil and that is what we will be out to do on Saturday.”

Williams expects to have a fully fit squad to choose from this week.

“There were one or two impact injuries at Billericay, but nothing the players will not shake off,” he said.

“We should be at full strength.”

Meanwhile, the club has confirmed its Alan Turvey Trophy semi-final clash with Ryman Premier League rivals Wingate & Finchley will be played at Kingsmeadow on Monday, February 29.

The final, should Ks get there, will be played at Carshalton Athletic’s Colston Avenue home on April 6.
