Rob Tolfrey has backed Kingstonian bosses John Fenwick, Malcolm Winwright and Mark Anderson to steer the club through troubled waters.

AFC Wimbledon’s attempts to off-load Kingsmeadow to fund a possible move back to Merton, have raised fears Ks could be forced out of their current home.

The three co-chairmen are considering potential venues to house the Ryman Premier League outfit in the event they are made homeless – with a recent statement confirming a future away from Jack Goodchild Way seeming inevitable.

Tolfrey, who saved three penalties on Tuesday night to send boss Tommy Williams’ men through to the quarter-finals of the Robert Dyas Cup at the expense of Walton & Hersham, is Ks’ longest serving player.

Ks have a history of chairmen selling them short, but Tolfrey is confident the current trio can be trusted to work in the club’s best interests.

“There are three good people in charge and hopefully they’ll sort it,” he said.

“The players don’t really think about it because that is for people behind the scenes to sort out.

“All I know is Kingsmeadow is a great place to play and people like coming here and I’m sure they will do everything they can to keep us here.”

Tolfrey had to be at his best to ensure Ks were not the victim of a giant-killing at Stompond Lane.

Alex Addai gave Ks the lead in the first half, but Matt Reece beat Tolfrey from the spot soon after, although it was the Kingsmeadow number one who had the last laugh.

“I’ve always just had a pretty good record at saving penalties,” he added.

“There is nothing to it really – I guess.”

Ks, who travel to Bury Town on Saturday, have had a frustrating campaign, but Tolfrey believes there is all to play for.

He said: “We’d like to win one of the cups for the fans and two or three wins in the league can still put us up there.”
