Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson has admitted keeping winger Charlie Knight fit will be key to his side’s Ryman Premier League promotion quest.

The 25-year-old, pictured,  made an instant impact off the bench – alongside Daniel Sweeney – on Sunday as he stepped up his recovery from a back problem.

His introduction is an indication of the strength in depth Dowson currently has at his disposal in his current squad.

And the Kingsmeadow chief is only too aware of Knight’s importance.

“When Charlie is fully fit he will be the first name on the teamsheet,” he said.

“If we are going to achieve anything this season we need him to stay fit and playing.

“It is probably the first time ever at this level, that he has been told he isn’t starting.

“Being able to bring him and Daniel Sweeney on shows the strength in depth we have.

“It is good for the team too, because everyone knows they have to keep playing well to stay in the team.”
