Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson has moved to strengthen his back four by signing Carshalton Athletic defender Bruce Hogg.

The former Chipstead man leaves Colston Avenue in the wake of boss Tommy Williams' recent exit from the Ryman Premier League strugglers and he comes with a glowing reference from the ex-Ks midfielder.

Dowson had vowed to bring in two new faces in the wake of Saturday's disappointing 2-0 FA Trophy exit at lowly Ryman Division One South Folkestone Invicta.

And, having agreed terms with Hogg, he is still hoping to sign a midfielder before the weekend trip to Lowestoft Town.

"Tommy swears by him as a defender and rates him as one of the best players he has worked with at the club," said the manager.

"Hopefully, he will be good for us and give us the lift we need."

The Kingsmeadow chief missed out on £2,700 in prize money following the weekend's defeat, but continues to have the financial backing of the club's board of directors.
