Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson is set to strengthen his squad after Saturday's FA Trophy exit.

Ks, riding high in the Ryman Premier League, crashed 2-0 at Folkestone Invicta, who are currently 16th in the division below.

It means the club, who also exited the FA Cup at the first qualifying round stage, missed out on £2,700 in prize money for reaching the second qualifying round.

Dowson is set to add two new faces to his squad, but will have to balance the books by letting one or two depart Kingsmeadow after the latest cup disappointment.

"We've been knocked out of two cups and that is worth a lot of money to the club," said the manager.

"We'll have to get that money from somewhere and that will be difficult. I'm meeting the directors on Monday and finances will be the topic of conversation.

"We are going to make a couple of signings. We were going to do that anyway, because we feel we have to strengthen at the right time.

"If we have to let a couple of people go or drop people's money, so be it. That is the way football and finances go."

Ks missed a host of opportunities to score on Saturday with striker Andre McCollin the chief culprit.

But it was a perceived lack of effort from his men that upset Dowson the most.

"I'm as deflated as I've ever been. They worked their socks off and I don't think our lads did," he added.

"I warned the lads before kick-off that they had one or two things about them.

"Our midfield four did not make a tackle all game and they showed a lot more hunger and desire.

"The chances we have missed are unbelievable."
