Ex-Brentford midfielder Eddie Hutchinson scored only nine league and cup goals for the Bees and his failed attempt for Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday probably demonstrates why.

The 33-year-old, who started his career at Griffin Park, made more than 100 appearances for the club in six years as a professional at Brentford.

Hutchinson, whose twin brother Tommy Hutchinson played under Hampton boss Alan Dowson at Kingstonian, signed for the Beavers this summer and has helped them to second place in the Ryman Premier League table.

Swing and a miss: Hampton & Richmond Borough Eddie Hutchinson might have burst the net at the Beveree had he connected with his effort

The Kingston-born midfielder's scuffed first half attempt at the weekend - featured at around 40 seconds in our video -  came in a crunch clash with Kingstonian.

His miscue did not prove costly as Hampton came from 1-0 down to score three goals in the final 12 minutes and secure a 3-1 win over their play-off rivals.

Since leaving west London he has played non-League football for Oxford United, Crawley Town, Eastbourne Borough, Havant & Waterlooville and Maidenhead Town.

He is yet to open his league goal account for his new club, but has scored for the Beavers in the Middlesex Senior Cup tie with Hayes & Yeading.
