Midfielder Josh Casey says there is no need to panic at Hampton & Richmond Borough.

The Beavers followed up last week’s 4-0 defeat to Lewes with a 1-0 FA Cup first qualifying round defeat to Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday.

Boss Alan Dowson’s men, currently four points off the Ryman PRemier LEague top five with only two defeats in nine league games, head to struggling Billericay Town tomorrow hoping to end a run of three games without a win.

And Casey, part of Dowson’s squad at Kingstonian as they reached the play-offs in 2014, insists the manager – who celebrates 12 months at the club this week – knows what he is doing.

“The players aren't stupid. We hear the comments from people saying we are under performing. There is no need to panic,” he said.

“People need to realise this is a new squad. We’ve only lost two league games and are only going to improve.

“We are, in my opinion, one of the best teams in the league.

“The players have said we want to get promotion. We have put that pressure on ourselves.

“If we have made a rod for our own back, then so be it, but that is our ambition.”

He added: “People have to stay level headed.

“It is easy to forget that a year ago, when Alan took over, this team was rock-bottom. Now look where we are.

“Teams do not go from the bottom to the top of the league in 12 months.

“This is a long process and Alan is the best person to get us heading in the right direction.”
