Hampton & Richmond Borough striker Nick Kabamba jumped at the chance to get out of Hemel Hempstead Town and he has his sights on staying at the Beveree.

The 22-year-old penned a three-month loan switch from the National League South out fit last week and he starred as the Beavers held Crystal Palace 1-1 on Monday night.

Kabamba played at the top of a 4-3-3 formation - alongside Charlie Moone and Josh Casey - and caused the Palace back four no end of trouble in an impressive debut for Hampton.

And the former Burnham youngster is aiming high when it comes to the start of the Ryman Premier League season at Harrow Borough next weekend.

"I wasn't getting any game time at Hemel, so I thought if I got a chance to go out on loan I'd take it," he said.

"I'm here for a three month deal and we'll have to see how it goes, but if I'm doing well I'll want to stay.

"I was getting some game time, but they have brought in some more experience now.

"It is tight in the changing room at Hampton and out on the pitch they're a good bunch of lads.

"I want to get as many goals as I play games. I know that is high, but I want a minimum 10 goals before Christmas.

"I want to play at the highest level I can, but if I can stay here and play, rather than go up a league and not play, then I would like to stay."

The Beavers approached Monday's draw in the same they would a Ryman Premier League clash and it showed in a first half they dominated from start to finish.

Hampton took a 15th minute lead through Jake Rose and could have had plenty more against a side boasting Scotland international Barry Bannan in midfield with Kabamba going close.

A host of second half substitutes saw Dean Sinclair, Richard Pacquette, Jerome Federico, James Richmond, Tom Collins and Dan Thompson all introduced as boss Alan Dowson experimented with a 4-4-2 line-up.

And the disruption eventually saw Hampton undone late in the second half when Olly O'Dwyer raced through to slide fire past Seb Brown.

"As far as the performance against Palace goes we should be challenging for the top five," added Kabamba.

"But it is consistency that wins you titles and we have to repeat this sort of performance in the league."

Dowson added: "For 60 minutes we were outstanding. I think it was a performance that will have given a bit of hope to the supporters and the players.

"You've got to give people belief. I think the whole place was buzzing after the match and the chairman said to me it looks the best side Hampton have had since Alan Devonshire was in charge.

"I don't know about that, because he did great things, but I'd like to think we have brought a bit of hope and that is all you can do as a manager."
