Seven games played, seven games unbeaten. That’s what the record books say.

The last week or so hasn’t been as straightforward as that, but two further home games have resulted in four well-earned points to keep us in upper mid-table.

Saturday’s game against the exuberantly named ‘Goldenboys’ of Watford saw Charlton take a deserved lead after about two minutes and then hold on for 88 of the longest minutes ever.

Goalkeeper Stephen Henderson excelled, especially in the second half.

The onrushing stopper denied Lloyd Dyer - whose arrival at the far post was about as welcome to Charlton fans as an edgy comedian at a Women’s Institute Meeting - to make a particularly superb smothering save.

Our unbeaten run was to be put to the test again against Wolves on Tuesday night.

Again Charlton took the lead, this time Olympic gymnast Andre Bikey volleying home from a corner before performing the perfect double somersault in celebration.

If you had asked me before the game, I would have said there’s more chance of an edgy comedian appearing at an LGBT Pride March than Big Andre completing one of those with the perfect landing.

The second half kicked off and the visitors came out fighting.

Charlton, mainly through George Tucadean, had had plenty of chances to put this game to bed before Batth time.

However, the Wolves skipper equalised with a header which somehow in modern society still saw fit to find it’s way over the line.

Both sides had chances to win it, with the Midlanders slightly more deserving to do so after a fatigued Charlton surrendered a lot of possession in the second half, but the entertaining game finished all square.

There was to be a light-hearted, charitable moment at half-time as lifelong celebrity fan Jim Davidson underwent the Ice Bucket Challenge in order to raise money for special causes, a noble gesture.

I’m not sure who he has nominated, but I hope they’re able to remain as dignified as possible while raising money for a good cause.

So Bob Peeters takes his unbeaten side to the home of the Chuckle Brothers, Rotherham, on Saturday for Charlton’s first visit to the misleadingly named New York Stadium.

He’ll be hoping to wipe the smile off the Chuckle family’s faces.

Come on you reds!
